If you’d like to organize a new group—say, a book club, a chess club, quilting circle, or whatever you propose—contact savannahscommunications@gmail.com for help in getting the word out. Include a description, organizing details, proposed meeting times and place, contact information, and any other information that might help people decide.
If your new group or activity would like meet at the Clubhouse, be sure to contact The Local Pub owners (321-455-1375) with details to avoid conflicts with other activities.
Mah Jong
The Savannahs’s has an active Mah Jongg group that meets weekly at The Clubhouse. Everyone is welcome! If you know how to play we always have room at our tables. If you don’t play, we love to teach new players how enjoyable and addictive this game is. Mah Jongg is a Chinese tile board game and we play by the National Mah Jongg league rules. No money is involved, and you don’t need to buy a game as we have plenty. So come on down and enjoy fun, good company, and the challenge of the game. We play every Monday at the Savannahs Clubhouse – 12:30 pm. Call Karin at 321-459-1158.
Pickleball
For those not familiar, Pickleball is a paddle sport normally played on a doubles badminton court. Here in the Savannahs, an informal group gets together most Sundays on the tennis court at Dolphin Park at around 10 a.m. and enjoys a friendly, informal round of play. Pickleball is kind of a combination of badminton, tennis and ping pong. Two or four players use solid paddles to hit a perforated ball, similar to a Wiffle Ball, over a net. The Savannahs group is very informal. David Strock says “Great idea! All are welcome regardless of ability or level & we form doubles & play for the fun of it.”
Friday Ladies Social Hour
A group of Savannahs ladies some time ago initiated a once-weekly “Friday Ladies Social Hour”. This is strictly an informal group, formed just to let Savannahs women get together to meet, chat, swap stories, and just have fun. The women gather at the Savannahs Clubhouse each Friday at 4:00 pm for an hour or so, then invite their men to join them at 5:00. If this sounds like something you’d like to participate in, just drop on by any Friday and join in the fun.
